1. Keep a veterinarian’s number handy.
A pregnant dog may deliver anytime. If you’re a first-time breeder, you
might want to know the signs that indicate if the dog is due very soon.
Things such as the dog’s body temperature, temperament, and condition
need to be checked regularly. If you see anything unusual with your dog,
call the vet right away.
2. Make sure that the dog is free from illnesses.
Boxer pups are prone to certain diseases such as hip dysplasia,
epilepsy, cardiac problems, and issues with the thyroid glands. If you
want to breed boxers, you have to make sure that the parents don’t
suffer from any of these conditions and are not carriers of the said
disease either.

If you only have a female boxer but you’d like it to have puppies, you
don’t really have to buy a male boxer dog. You just have to look at the
ads where stud services are offered. Studs are male dogs normally used
to impregnate female dogs. When choosing a stud, you also have to check
its health, temperament, and physical condition.
4. Call professional breeders to check on your dog.
If this is the first time you’re breeding dogs and you would like to
make it as a hobby or a profession, it is best that you consult with the
experts. Breeders know when a dog is good for breeding and if it is
ready to deliver its puppies. If you can afford to make the breeder
visit your dog every week, that’s good. In the absence of a breeder, you
can also consult with a vet, although they charge higher for their
services.
